DEFINITIONS

A Virtual Tour identifies itself as a virtual tour. A virtual tour is not simply a picture gallery or slide show. A virtual tour is usually interactive, but may be guided or linear. A true virtual tour includes multimedia such as photos and may or may not include audio. Virtual tours often include interactive maps. Virtual tours are usually asynchronous. Virtual tours are usually geographic but may be architectural, such as museums or hotels.

VR may be panorama, video clip, animation or VRML, and is usually interactive.

Webcameras, or webcams, usually provide virtual "live" or synchronous images. Webcameras are often categorized as either Indoor or Outdoor.
